Visa Information


Foreigners wishing to enter the Republic of Korea to attend IEEE-NANO 2023 should possess valid passports and valid entry visas, if required. Visitors for sightseeing or transit with confirmed outbound tickets may stay in Korea up to 30 days without visas, except those from certain countries. Any visitor from a country that has no diplomatic relations or no special visa exemption with Korea should obtain an entry visa before coming to Korea. If you are uncertain as to the requirements for entry visas to the Republic of Korea, please contact the Korean Embassy or the consulate nearest to you as soon as possible.

※ NOTE: For visa-free foreign visitors, the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) became mandatory from 1 September 2021. Apply for K-ETA via the K-ETA official website or mobile App (K-ETA)!!

※ NOTE: Temporary Exemption of K-ETA for 22 Countries or Regions – The government of the Republic of Korea announced that from April 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024, K-ETA is no longer required for nationals of 22 countries/regions, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Macao, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, & US (including Guam). * Invitation Letter

An official invitation letter will be sent by the secretariat of IEEE-NANO 2023 upon request. The visa application is the sole responsibility of the participants. To request an official invitation letter, participants should first complete the registration process. After completing the online registration process with payment, please contact the secretariat by email with registration details (i.e., transaction ID): ieeenano2023@gmail.com.


  • General Visa Policy of Korea – Country under Visa Waiver Agreements

Nationals of those countries or regions with which Korea has signed a visa waiver agreement can enter without visa, on the condition that they do not engage in remunerative activities during their stay. (Up to 90 days unless stated otherwise).

  • Entry Arrangements for Jeju Island

Eligible Foreigners: Nationals of all countries are allowed visa-free entry into Korea via Jeju airport for tourism or transit EXCEPT for the following 11 countries as these special arrangements are denied to these countries: Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Cuba, Syria, Macedonia, Palestine, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Ghana.

    • Duration of Stay: Up to 30 days
    • Permitted Area/Range: Jeju Island
    • Conditions of entry: Those arriving directly at Jeju Island by flight or ship

※ NOTE: This policy applies only to Jeju, not to the mainland of Korea, and a person transferring at Gimpo or Incheon International Airport needs to obtain a visa.
